On 3^rd. January, 2012, I had a dream.

I saw the Divine Countenance of Guruji, and I heard a Voice tell me:

“HE (Guruji), is Lord Sri Dakshinamoorthi…”

(-Vaishnavi, “Avathar Sri Seshadri Bhaktha Samaajam”)

Lord Sri Dakshinamurthy is portrayed as being in the yogic state of abstract meditation – and as a powerful form brimming with ever flowing bliss and supreme joy.

According to Maharshi Kardamshankara Jnanadeva, Lord Sri Dakshinamoorthy signifies the abstract or hidden power of the Absolute – as expressed in all Enlightened Masters!

Indian tradition accords a special reverence to the Guru or the Master.

Lord Sri Dakshinamurthy, in the Shaivite system of belief, is regarded as the ultimate Guru – the embodiment of knowledge and the destroyer of ignorance (as represented by the demon being crushed under the feet of the deity).

The Jnana Mudra is interpreted as:

• the thumb denotes the God and the index finger denotes the man.

• the other three fingers stand for the three congenital impurities of man – arrogance, illusion and bad deeds of the past births.

When man detaches himself from these impurities, he reaches God.

The Abhaya Mudra, is interpreted as His grace upon His students.

The rosary or the snake signifies Tantric knowledge.

The fire represents illumination, removing the darkness of ignorance.

His Holiness, Rajarishi Sathguru Sri Rajalinga Swamigal, our Guruji, was born in the year 1951. He was named “RAJALINGAM”, after the Lord Sri Rajalingam also known as Sri Rathnagirishwarar (Lord Shiva) at Ayyarmalai, Karur district, TamilNadu, India.

The Shrine of Sri Rathnagirishwarar at Ayyarmalai is located 45 kms. from Trichy. (Its is 8 kms from Kulithalai and 40 kms from Manapparai in the Kulitalai-Manapparai road).

The temple is on a steep hill of 1178 feet height and has 1017 steps with a circumference of 4 kms in an are of 110 acres of land.

Ayyarmalai is one of the peaks of Mount Meru, and the Lingam here, is a Jyothir Lingam.

There are many resting mandapams, every 100 feet inside the temple premises. The formation of the Swayambu Lingam here is in the midst of 8 rocks, and the main Deity resides in the 9th rock. All these are revered as Navarathnas, or the nine gems of Shiva.

Very interestingly, during the Tamil month of Chithirai, (mid-April to mid-May), the sun rays fall on the Shivalinga through each of the the nine holes in front of the sanctum sanctorum. This is a unique phenomenon.

The temple holds great significance in that it finds its place as one of the 275 sacred Shiva temples glorified by the Thevara hymns (especially by Thirunaavukkarasar); and the first in the list of South of Cauvery temples.

On the first day of the tamil month of Karthikai, (mid-November to mid-December), the Lord offers a splendid Darshan to His devotees, wearing a priceless crown.

A notable feature of this temple is that the water for abishekam of the Lord is carried everyday from the Cauvery river 9 kilometers away, spanning the 1017 steps of the hill.

The main Deity has three names:

Sri Rathnagirishwarar/ Sri Rajalingam/ Thiru Valpokki

The Raja Lingam we know as Shiva Rathnagirishwarar is a Kingmaker!

If a king worships Lord Sri Rathnagirishwarar with deep devotion, he would be blessed to become an emperor. The worship of Lord Sri Rathnagirishwara Shiva helps one advance to the next level up the ladder of life.

Those yearning for advancement in their field, profession, job, career should most definitely benefit from the worship of Lord Sri Rajalingam or Sri Rathnagirishwarar!

• Those who have no knowledge of their family deities (Kula Deivam) may adopt Lord Sri Rathnagirishwarar as their family deity.

• A majority of the devotees visit the Shrine for mental peace alone. A marked feature of worship in this Shrine is that meditation, penance and silent prayers are observed by devotees. This is a special Shiva temple for devotees seeking mental peace. Freedom from depression is attained by prayers to the Lord.

• Another uniquely reported miracle here is that the unboiled milk used for abhishekam of the Lord never goes stale, and instead changes to fresh curd!

• The snakes found here on the Hill of Ayyarmalai have no poison.

• Once a crow happened to spill the milk brought by a true devotee and therefore was burnt to ashes. From then on, no crow flies on the hill above this particular height. There is also a mandapam called a ‘crow mandapam’, indicative of this incident!

• Once, a devotee, by the name of Vaira Perumal of Kancheepuram vowed to offer his head to Lord Sri Rathnagirishwarar if he were to beget. He kept his promise, and his head was elevated to the peak of the mount while his feet stayed down. As a sacred offering to his devotion for the Lord, honey and coconut milk are offered as anointments for his head. The garlands offered to the Lord, are then offered to His dear devotee’s head!

• Once the Navarathna crown(crown studded with nine gems) of King Aryarajan could not be found and he prayed to Lord Shiva. He came here and tried to fill a big bowl called Kopparai meant for storing the water for the Lord’s Abhishekam (anointments). Surprisingly it did not become full even after pouring the Cauvery water endlessly. The angry King took the sword and threw it on the Linga which began to bleed. The king reconciling from the fury fell at the feet of the Lord, who in turn pardoned him and also blessed the king with his lost crown. The scar is still visible on the Linga and that’s why the deity is called Vatpokki.

Dear Sesha Bhakthas,

Namaskarams.

Shankar and I had been to Thiruvannamalai last weekend.

We had the privelege of experiencing Guruji and Mahaan’s Grace, beautiful moments of which, I wish to joyfully share with our Samaajam.

It began right from our journey towards Thiruvannamalai! We were at the Madivala bus stop in Bangalore at around 6:45 pm. The buses, at that hour of the evening are usually crowded, and assuming we would not get any room to sit, Shankar prayed to Guruji, for a comfortable journey. Soon enough, we got a bus, we saw that none of the two seaters were empty. Only a few 3 seaters were empty. We sat in a 3 seater seat. Then, as we had anticipated, there was a huge rush in the bus with all seats taken and plenty of people standing. The seats did not have much leg room so we were both struggling to sit! 

Then, all of a sudden in another 30 minutes, the bus was almost empty at the Hosur stop. We found a two seater that we had wished for, which was much better to sit in. Without any further hassles, we had a comfortable journey, all the way upto Thiruvannamalai. Having reached Thiruvannamalai, we got a room with the help of Velu sir.

The next morning, an astounding miracle was to be Graced upon us!

We reached our Guruji’s Shrine, along with Velu sir in the morning. We cleaned the Shrine, and offered fresh flowers, lit the diyas and incense, and offered our prayers. We stayed there awhile, and when we were about to leave, I took some pictures. While taking one of those pictures, something startling struck me. I moved back to the picture I had just taken and was amazed to see what I saw in it!

What I saw was a form that appeared as a horizontal shape of a diya! It was truly a Jyothi Darshan that our Guru had given us, in the form of light!

Our next experience during this trip was during parikrama next morning. Both Shankar and I were blessed with strong fragrances of Rice, Vibhooti, incense (though we don’t know what the actual fragrance was) and Jasmine!

While doing parikrama we noticed that the the peak of the Holy Arunachala was covered by clouds in a very unique way! It looked like semi-circular layers of vibhooti were applied to the peak!

It felt utterly Divine!

I feel highly obliged to be a part of the Sesha Bhakta Samaajam and feel even more privileged to have experienced such miracles by our Guruji’s Grace.

Dear Sesha Bhaktha Samaajam,

I wish to share my recent experience with everyone in our Samaajam.

Before I begin, I wish to express my Anantha Koti Namaskaarams to my Dear Guruji and my Dear Mahaan…

It was a late Sunday morning, on the 16th. of October, 2011, when I was preparing the bath for my son Harsha. As I was getting things ready, the soap fell from my hand, and fell on the floor. I bent down to pick it up, and as luck would have it, the soap literally splattered into my left eye.

The impact was so close and direct, that large blobs of soap got into my eye. It stung so much, that it felt so much more terrifying than ever. I kept continually washing my eye for nearly 30 minutes, but the soap wouldn’t be washed off so easily. I was not even in a position to travel to the ophthalmologist. The pain and the burn was excruciating and I couldn’t open my eyes for nearly an hour!

Harsha too was unwell that day, and I panicked because I couldn’t attend to his needs. In utter desperation i prayed to Mahaan, and demanded that He restore my eyes.

In a matter of a few minutes, the soap seemed to wash off, and again within the next ten minutes, much of it got cleared. I was able to open my eyes, and soon left for the doctor’s.

Still worried, as we were on our way, we were met by an oncoming tempo traveller that slowed us down. On the header were the words:

“ராஜலிங்கம் துணை” (“RAJALINGAM THUNAI”)

I was stunned, amazed, astounded on reading those words! It was electrifying! My heart screamed with sheer joy!

O how, even for a trifle of a moment in life, our Venerable Swami, our Dear Guruji leaves not His devotee’s side!!

From that moment on, my pain was replaced with joy! At the doctor’s clinic, the procedure was done, and my eyes were cleaned!

The opthalmologist was a very religious person, and he had photos of several saints in his room. And he also had a photo of Avathar Sri Seshadri Swamigal on his glass table!

Hearing about this strange accident of mine, he remarked, “The lesson you learn from this is that, not even the simplest things in life, lie in your control. It is the Almighty Lord Who controls everything, and that we pray for His Grace!” How true!

Our Dear Mahaan and Guruji’s powerful Blessing was so overwhelming!

As per the doctor’s advice, and as a protective measure to prevent further infection, I got myself a pair of dark glasses. I returned home greatly relieved!

Later that evening, when I opened the receipt to check the telephone number of the opticals, I had a strange feeling when a dearly familiar word crossed me!

When I went through the sheet of paper, I was amazed into joyous laughter when I learnt that the opticals I had been to was called, “GURUJI OPTICALS!!”

It is a very endearing experience to me, and I feel the Divine Grace of my Dearest Master and Lord, makes life so much worth living!!

Thank you so much. I am blessed to be in our Samaajam!

“HIS DIVINE COUNTENANCE HELD THAT DELIGHT,

THAT A MOTHER’S FACE WOULD, FOR HER CHILD!”

At 9:34 pm, August 1, 2010. Avathar Sri Seshadri Swamigal Bhaktha Samaajam was in a state of shock.

A pall of gloom descended on our Samaajam, as we heard of our Poojya Swamiji’s MahaSamadhi.

For all of us, it was passing through a phase of extreme sadness. In life’s odds, this was one matter of irreconcilable grief!

It was a wrenching feeling to have lost our guiding light, our life-force…..

Often it felt His Holiness knew us better, than we ourselves!

We wondered if we could collect ourselves, and continue with life, as ever… It was a harrowing experience to live merely with memories of the glorious times we’ve had with our Spiritual Master…

In Him we drowned our sorrows, our grief, our pain,

and He drenched us in Love, Hope and Prayer…

.

He was our spirit, our life-force, our strength, our hope…

…and we really wondered if we could have Him back!

…And it was not very distant before He chose to rise again as the light of Arunachala, to Grace His devotees…

It was about the time of late evening, in a dark room, by the candlelight, I was looking at a sheet of paper that looked like manuscript .

On it was written:

Arunachala! Arunachala! Arunachala!

Arunachala SivaSesha!

(Then I heard a voice say, with regard to our Poojya Swamiji:)

“HE shall now bestow His Holy Darshan

to the world

in the form of the Jyothi of Arunachala!”

Despite suffering, ordeals, trials and tribulations,

we still do manage to live…

In the bleakest of days, there are times when we do we feel happy, and cherish life as our dearest, for what it offers – little moments of joys – small measures of strength – and enduring peace…

- and it is precisely during these little moments of joys, small measures of strength, and enduring peace, that we realize that His Grace continues to flow, His Love continues to envelop us….

7^th. March, 2011, Goa (Shri. M. Rajagopal, Mumbai, Avathar Sri Seshadri Swamigal Bhaktha Samaajam)

I was at Goa on account of my Company’s work and had to stay there for a few days for the completion of a project. In my hotel room early in the morning, Sathguru Sri Rajalinga Swamigal, Graced me by His Presence in a dream at about 3.30 am.

“A massive function of Pujya Swamiji was in progress and several bhakthas had the privilege of attending the ceremonies. Due to pressing circumstances I was unable to participate in the glorious event.

I was longing for a first hand account of the function from the Bhakthas. One of the Bhakthas well known to me approached me on his return to narrate the joyous events.

As the person drew closer to me, the form of the familiar figure transformed to that of Pujya Swamiji. Swamiji in His own disarming smile approached me and I approached as well, in utter abandon!

It has been a good seven months since we all have been missing the form and Sthoola Shareera of Pujya Swamiji. The spontaneous reaction to the gleeful sight of our Swamiji brought forth the deepest of our sentiments for our Guru, God, Friend, Companion And Guide.

We both embraced each other very tight and forgot all about our sorrow of missing each other all these days.

This dream ended after the embrace and when I looked at my wrist watch, the time was 03.30 am, – the Brahma Muhoortham time. Thereafter, I had the privilege of chanting our Guru mantra “OM SATHGURU SRI SESHADRI SWAMIGAL TIRUVADIKKAE” several times.

 This dream signifies the deepest attachment our Guru has for His Bhakthas and never forsakes us in times of our need. He attends personally or through his chosen Emissary, and we once again obtain peace and harmony in our lives.

When we keep the floodgates open… we would strongly feel,

“HIS DIVINE COUNTENANCE

STILL DOES HOLD THAT DELIGHT,

THAT A MOTHER’S FACE DOES, FOR HER CHILD!”

It was dawn, and I had been having fleeting impressions of Guruji. His Holiness then blessed me with a revelation in the form of a dream.

A great shamiana (pandal) was being erected for the function of Swamijis Aradhanai. Several bhakthas were busy in their various chores and errands. Above the entrance, a massive banner was placed, welcoming a ‘Swamiji SURJIT Shree…..’, (as the name read!

As a spectator, I was taken aback, at not finding the familiar phrase – “Sesha Bhaktha Samaajam” or Mahaan’s Mantra “Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae!”

To this inner query, Swamiji in His resplendent joyous smile appeared beside me standing by my side and clarified as under:

“What is the difference or distinction in names? Let the Bhakthas call me by whatever name they may prefer or like. All names reach out to me. And, I receive all their calls and prayers with the same joy.”

Such is the kindness of our Pujya Swamiji, Sathguru Sri Rajalinga Swamigal, as He comes to clear the slightest of doubts arising in His Bhaktha’s mind.

Is there need of any testimony to Mahaan’s presence in our lives and actions ?

Our Lives are uncertain and riddled with unknown rough and arduous tracts, peaks and valleys, joys and sorrows, success and failures. Where do we go for solace other than our dear Master, Mahan Sesha and our Merciful Guru Pujya Sri Rajalinga Swamigal.

Dear Bhakthas,

We recall Sathguru Sri Rajalinga Swamigal’s Voice and advice to us given during the years 2005 and 2009.

“I reach out to the Bhaktha who abdicates his worldly cares and approaches me in surrender. I am the Past, Present and Future and have carved out in fine detail to my dear Bhaktha his Life’ss course.”

“My Bhaktha can’t comprehend the expanse of Life if I lay it bare before him – Life’s several facets, turmoils, triumphs and events. The very enormity of these events are sufficient to frighten him and lose his courage.”

At this stage Swamiji gave us a candid example of visit to a movie:

“The audience is assembled in a Cinema hall to watch an interesting suspense movie. Just as the first scene lights up on the screen, the Film Producer comes on stage and narrates the progress of scenes, the Climax, Anti-Climax…and so on.”

‘Now, which spectator would be interested in the movie?’

He will lose all his interest and lose the very purpose of his visit to the movie hall!”

He further narrated that such is the mind-set of every Bhaktha, for he needs to take life in small doses at a time and experience every moment and become refined as a matured person. It is for this very purpose that the Guru’s Grace is available to him.

“I permit him to take one step at a time, learn from his successes and failures and eventually reach the zenith of the goal of his life – God Realisation.”

“How can I forsake him in times of need? He gets better relief when he but once realizes that I am there all the time and ever present by his side. I am the cause and the effect.

The Bhaktha is a mute spectator and an actor at certain times. He has only to hold my helping hand “Abhaya Hastham” and continue his path unfettered and worry free.”

“Are you feeling my (the Guru’s) presence in the very cells of your body? God you think, God you are.

….Verily thoughts are things. As you think, so you become. What you sow, so you reap.

Watch your words, watch your actions, watch your heart. Character is power. Patience is all the strength that a boy or girl needs. Seshadri Swamigal is not far from you, or away in some different place. He is within you, in your own inner altar. A loveless heart is a dry desert. Love is the foundation of life. It is Truth and Truth alone, that is one’s real friend and relative. Abide by the Truth, tread the path of righteousness, and not a hair of your body will ever be injured.

If you make an effort to conduct yourself by keeping in view that Swamiji’s command is more important and significant than Swamiji Himself, Swamiji will become yours, very easily.

……..Be happy. Seshadri Swamigal is always with you. Be happy with Sesha’s Love.”

Our Blessed, Beloved Swamiji has touched our lives in so many beautiful moments in so many beautiful ways. His voice still rings in our ears so sweetly, with the Divine message of Love…

He lived with us as the personification of Love, Devotion, Compassion and Grace, that He showered on us, as we knew Him then…

He does so now, as the joy in our hearts, – our Pleasure in moments of solitude, Hope in moments of despair, Faith in moments of prayer, our Succour, every moment we envision His Holiness….

Every Divine word He has spoken to us, every blessing He has conferred upon us, is a lifetime of endless Grace upon us.

MEMOIRS is the voice of the Bhaktha, – a record of his most cherished and fulfilling moments with our Guruji, and a chronicle of His Holiness’ teachings, instructions, and Divine messages..

His Holiness’s Jayanthi falls on 20th. February, 2011. In commemoration of our respects at His Holy Feet, we dedicate our devotion and love in rememberance of the significant moments with Him, – through sharing our precious moments and feelings with our Samaajam.
