02. June 1986 – Meditation helps overcome life's trials

Om Sri Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

Paramaguru Samadhi Shrine of Sri Santhananda Swamigal

(The Samadhi Shrine of Sri Sadasiva Swamigal is situated in the town of Pudukkottai, 67 kms from Tiruchirappally, Tamil Nadu.)

In June 1986, I first met Sri Santhananda Saraswathya Avadhooth Swamigal of ‘Skandashramam’ (Udayapatti – a village, 10 kms from Salem, Tamil Nadu).

Sri Santhananda Swamigal descends from the ‘Dattatreya Parampara’. He blessed me and ordained me to recite the Sakthi Upasana Mantra and the Panchamukha Upasana Mantra of Anjeneya (Maruthi or Hanuman).

Soon after, He said, “You would soon meet, near the town that you reside now, a Great Spiritual Master (Self-Realized Spiritual Guru) and He, will guide you to reach your goal (Self-Realization)”.

Sri Santhananda Swamigal said:

SAMADHI is attained, when the meditator (Mediator), the process of meditation (by which the mind is withdrawn from the senses by interiorization, and the object of meditation (God or Guru) becomes one.”

You have to visit my Guru’s Samadhi Shrine and Parama Guru’s Samadhi Shrine.”

Trials do not come to destroy you, but to help you appreciate God better.”

God does not send those trials. They are of your own making – the effects of conscious or unconscious actions in the past, somewhere, sometime. You must blame yourself for these; but do not, as a result, allow yourself to develop an inferiority complex. All you have to do to overcome your trials is to resurrect your consciousness from the environment of spiritual ignorance.

– Sri Santhananda Swamigal

Human habits are your deadliest enemies”

What are you afraid of? You are an immortal being. You are neither man nor woman, as you may think, but a soul, joyous, eternal! Do not identify your immortality with human habits; they are your deadliest enemies.

– Sri Santhananda Swamigal

Open your “bank account” with God

When your mental powers expand, your cup of realization will become big enough to hold the ocean of knowledge. Then you have resurrected yourself. Open your ‘bank account’ with God.

– Sri Santhananda Swamigal

The deity of the Shrine is Sri Matha Bhuvaneswari Ambal. When I was in deep meditation, I heard a voice from the Samadhi say:

Mouna (silence) is the best and chant ‘Om Im Hreem Sreem’ in silence, the way to become an Ambal Upasaka.”
